Diamond Pass outfitters Inshore Report

The Start of September is here, and the fall run  is just beginning. The September New Moon has brought in an impressive amount of small bait in the river, and out front on the beaches and the Striped Bass are all over it. Early mornings have been showing pods of fish spraying these baitfish on the surface. Soft plastics like the Ron-Z’s, Albie Snax, and Hogy Pro Tails are fishing well. White seems to be the hot color right now, but Olive has been producing consistently too. Fish these lures just under the surface and at a moderate speed to simulate a fleeing baitfish. Topwater plugs like the Two Lights Tackle small spook, the Hogy Poppers, and Hydro Pencil by Yo-Zuri is also producing well.

If you’re in Biddeford Pool fishing near the rocks, here are some great products to help you catch Striped Bass.

If you are looking to target some real trophy fish this month, the night bite is what you should be focusing on. Live eels, if you can find any are going to be the most effective. If you cannot get your hands on any eels, the Gravity Tackle GT Eels are a very close second. Fish these baits slow to simulate an eel, focus on moving water, and areas where a Striped Bass will set up to ambush.

Live lining mackerel will be your best during the day. Focus your efforts around the islands and other rocky structure.
