We brought this Blue shark in Saturday, we were not sure if it would win us the tournament, but we thought it may actually would have broke the state record which is 451 pounds..10 grand if we break it. We measured it, best we could we came up with ten feet. state record was 9 foot 2.. the shark was still alive and we decided to kill it 5 miles away...
after we weighed it the scale read 452 pounds!!!!!! the crowd yells to us that we won ten grand and broke the record. for two minutes....then they lowered the shark, and took off the rope attached to the shark and took off the weight of the tail rope.(4 pounds) WTF!! I know we should have put lead in it, but when the biologists opened the stomach, it was full of all the chunks and chum, Paul Lynch kept feeding it. Cody Petit brought him in. final weight.... 448 pounds.. like an inch away from a hole in one!

Check out the attached picture of the 45 inch, 48 lb red drum i caught down in North Carolina on Friday on a private charter. I was fishing in 3 feet of water with a little Daiwa spinning reel with 8lb test for puppy drum and speckled trout, when this bad boy picked up my piece of cut mullet and headed for deeper water. One hour and 37 minutes later, i had him at the boat. We netted him, got our pictures and measurements, and released him to fight another day. The current IGFA world record for rod and reel red drum on 8 lb test is 60 lbs (set 20 years ago in north carolina as well)....oh well, maybe next year.
